HOW TO REMOVE MAKEUP: 7 tips for heavy duty makeup removal

Sometimes no matter how much we rub or wash our face there’s always a feeling that there’s still some makeup left. With every makeup removal we search for new solutions and techniques for taking off every last bit of makeup. Read more about these 7 tips and techniques on how to remove makeup and achieve a clean and makeup free face.

1. TAKE YOUR TIME

One hour of makeup does not come off in 1 minute. Take this moment to really massage the makeup remover onto your skin, wait until it does it’s job and then wash it off. Stronger makeup products, like water resistant mascara, matte lipstick and water resistant eyeliner, take more time to dissolve. If you wish to remove makeup easily and without harming your skin, then let the makeup remover take effect on the skin. Too much rubbing harms skin and causes premature aging.

The cakier the “mask”, the longer you have to let the makeup remover take effect before washing or wiping it off.

Evolve Cleansing Melt perfectly melts makeup off the skin.

2.   DON’T USE ONLY MAKEUP REMOVER CLOTHS

Makeup remover cloths are the perfect first step for makeup removal, but for a successful makeup removing routine you have to use water and “soap” (metaphor). Using only makeup remover cloths and then applying serum and moisturizer on the skin will clog pores and create unpleasant pimples overnight. So it’s important to deep cleanse your skin from makeup. PHB Cleansers are skin-friendly makeup removers that consist of plant oils to dissolve even the most water resistant mascaras.

3.   USE PRODUCTS THAT ARE MADE FOR MAKEUP REMOVAL

As women with a fast pace of life we tend to use the same products for removing makeup and cleansing our skin. And these cleansing products are often meant as 2-in-1. Nonetheless it is good to use icellar water, cleansin gel  or cleansing oil when removing makeup. The mentioned makeup removers are definitely the strongest and most successful superheroes of makeup removal.

4.   REMOVING EYE MAKEUP IS ALSO IMPORTANT

Eyelashes and eye waterlines are the most avoided when removing makeup because they’re hard to access. Since the accumulation of mascara and eyeliner cause eye irritation, you must find certain ways to get rid of them.

To remove eye makeup:

  • Wet cotton pads with makeup removing milk or micellar water.
  • Put them on your eyes and press gently.
  • Wait for 30-60 seconds and then wipe the eye makeup off.
  • If needed, repeat the process.
  • For a more detailed removal of mascara and eyeliner use a cotton swab that is saturated with makeup remover and remove leftover eye makeup.

Extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil are suitable for sensitive eyes.

5.   DON’T FORGET THE NECK

Neck, ears and hair area also need attention. If you’ve been to a makeup artist, then it’s certain, that foundation is blended on the neck, ears and hair area for a natural and even result. If you don’t want unexpected pimples or acne, then don’t avoid these areas.

6.   USE A TOWEL INSTEAD OF COTTON PADS

If you’re an everyday makeup user, then you should use smaller towels to remove makeup. Using cotton pads in such cases is costly and wasteful. Besides, towels have a texture that helps to really remove residue from face skin. Moisten the towel with warm water and remove the makeup.

7. DON’T FORGET TO MOISTURIZE

Don’t forget to moisturize your skin after makeup removal:

After the long process of face cleansing, skin is especially receptive to moisturizing facial skin care.
